Jersey fabric on granite, Pew Tor, Dartmoor, Devon
~ monewment
emerged one blustery and temperamental August day on Pew Tor. I spent a lot of my childhood scampering around on the rocks up there and always go back whenever I visit my family in Devon. I scouted out a few stones of particular interest and with my Mum’s help, began to hug their ancient granite surfaces with soft, stretchy blue fabric - exploring the relationship between contrasting materials and reinvigorating the old with the new. These particular stone stacks with their unique formations, cracks and crevices seemed to welcome my material interventions, reflecting the energy and atmosphere of our encounter with the landscape that day.
